Super Eagles’ fringe player, Terem Moffi has been served a ‘quit notice’ at OGC Nice of France, as officials of the French Ligue Un outfit appear determined not to welcome him back from his ongoing loan spell at FC Porto of Portugal, Sports247 gathered.
Despite spirited efforts from the former Lorient ace to hit top marks with Porto, the soft-running striker, whose full name is Teremas Igobor Moffi, will not be recalled by his parent club from the team he joined in January.
Moffi, who has four goals in 19 caps with the Super Eagles, has also previously played for Buckswood Academy of England, Kauno Žalgiris and Riteriai of Lithuania as well as Kortrijk of Belgium, will now have to seek a new base this summer.
This is sequel to a declaration by Nice’s vice-president, Maurice Cohen that they no longer need Moffi and Jeremie Boga, on loan at Juventus of Italy, after both players were involved in a dispute with the French club’s supporters last year.
“They will not return to Nice, whether their purchase options are exercised or not,” Cohen told Ici Azur radio; but Sports247 gathered that Moffi has received a lifeline for a longer spell at Porto, where his scorecard appears to have impressed officials.
Moffi has a log of two goals and one assist in 14 official matches for The Dragons, which means the 26-year-old striker could remain at Porto’s Dragão Stadium in a full contract, if the Portuguese giants decide to activate his €8m purchase option.
