Nigeria’s U20 women’s team, the Falconets, delivered a statement performance with a commanding 9-0 victory over Lakeside Queens in a preparatory fixture ahead of the final round of qualifiers for the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup.
The Falconets wasted no time asserting dominance, with Mega Cynthia opening the scoring in the 6th minute. The early breakthrough set the tone for a relentless attacking display, as Mamudu Mary added a first-half brace with goals in the 27th and 37th minutes.

The goals continued to flow before halftime, with Tumininu Adeshina (43’) and Nwokocha Favour Chiamaka (44’) extending the lead to 5-0 at the break, effectively putting the contest beyond reach.
Nigeria maintained their intensity in the second half, showing no signs of slowing down. Precious Oscar made it six in the 56th minute, followed by Folajomi Alaba in the 67th. Late goals from Animashaun Aisha (85’) and Abduwahaab Faridat Opeyemi (88’) capped off an emphatic nine-goal performance.
The dominant outing highlights the team’s attacking depth, fluidity, and readiness as they gear up for a crucial qualifying tie against Malawi. The Falconets will host the first leg on May 2 before traveling for the return leg on May 9.
