A Hezbollah military leader has told reporters that the group will ‘return to tactics from the 1980s’ and activate suicide squads to prevent Israel from gaining a ‘foothold’ in Lebanon
A Hezbollah commander has said the group is willing to use “large groups of suicide bombers” to combat Israel.
The unnamed commander told Al Jazeera that “we will use tactics from the 1980s and deploy suicide (bombers) to prevent the enemy from establishing itself.”
The senior military figure reportedly told Al Jazeera that “large groups of suicide bombers are deployed in the occupied territory according to pre-prepared plans,” referring to the territory Israel holds in southern Lebanon.
“The mission of the suicide bombers is to engage with enemy officers and soldiers in the occupied Lebanese villages.”
The news comes as the Israeli army announced that it has begun to strike alleged Hezbollah infrastructure sites in the Bekaa Valley, in eastern Lebanon, as well as across the south of the country.
Two attacks targeting the towns of Tibnin and Yater in southern Lebanon were also launched today.
