Relatives are holding a vigil for a 10-year-old boy who is fighting for his life following a crash in Co Antrim which has seen a teenager die.

Christopher Faulkner remains in a critical condition as communities across Limerick and Tipperary have united to support his family in the wake of the tragedy.

The youngster is a cousin of Limerick mother Scarlett Faulkner, who passed away earlier this month at CUH following a brutal attack. Her brother Jason Faulkner died mere days following her funeral.

Emergency crews responded to the incident on the Belfast Road, which happened shortly before 8 am on Sunday, 26 April. The collision involved a black Volkswagen Golf and a silver Volkswagen Passat.

The Golf’s driver has subsequently been detained by the PSNI on several driving-related charges, BelfastLive reports.
