Chelsea have been handed a boost in their reported pursuit of Anthony Gordon following reports that Newcastle United have rekindled their interest in Nicolas Jackson.
The Blues are expected to be extremely active in the transfer market this summer, after an underwhelming 2025-26 campaign, and it has been widely reported that Premier League proven stars will be targeted when the window opens.
A new left winger has been earmarked as one of Chelsea’s priorities for this summer and, according to a report from TEAMtalk, Gordon is among the club’s targets.
The England international has been on Chelsea’s radar for several years, dating back to his Everton days, and the club are understood to be keeping close tabs on his situation at Newcastle amid significant rumours that he could be offloaded.
The Magpies have endured a torrid season and widespread reports have indicated that several stars will need to be sold in order to raise funds thanks to no Champions League qualification money.
Gordon is one of those who could be sacrificed, with Arsenal and Bayern Munich expected to go head-to-head for his signature when the summer window opens in June.
However, Chelsea are also reportedly interested and they hold a secret weapon in the form of Jackson.
Nicolas Jackson to help Chelsea sign Anthony Gordon?
After the arrivals of Joao Pedro and Liam Delap last summer, Jackson was deemed surplus to requirements by the Chelsea board and they eventually finalised a loan deal with Bayern Munich after weeks of negotiations.
The Bundesliga giants have now confirmed they will not trigger the €65 million option to buy clause included in the agreement, meaning Chelsea will need to find another suitor if they want to sell Jackson before the start of next season.
A number of teams across Europe are likely to be interested in the forward and eSPORTY have revealed that Newcastle are already keen to secure his signature, having failed to sign him last year.
Eddie Howe’s side added Nick Woltemade and Yoane Wissa to their striker ranks last summer, in a bid to replace Alexander Isak, but neither player has managed to establish themselves at St James’ Park and they are both behind William Osula in the pecking order as things stand.
As a result, they have both been linked with premature exits and Newcastle have subsequently added Jackson to their list of summer targets.
Therefore, Chelsea could feasibly use Jackson in a swap bid for Gordon in order to reduce their potential outlay on the England star.
