Minnesota Timberwolves of USA new signing, Ayo Dosunmu turned up as a true hero in their latest National Basketball Association (NBA) game, as he helped them eke out victory on a night they were without two of their best players.
Sports247 reports that, while Anthony Edwards and Donte DiVincenzo were both ruled out, Dosunmu netted a career-high 43 points off the bench, as The Wolves romped to a 112-96 win against Denver Nuggets, who are now facing elimination.

Dosunmu’s amazing form earned him the status of top star in Game 4, with a high level of aggression and mixed drives that punished The Nuggets defense, as his side needed every single one of his points, without Edwards and DiVincenzo.
All of Dosunmu’s buckets counted – 13 of 17 from the field, 5 of 5 from 3, 12 of 12 from the line – as he enacted an incredible career-making moment, with huge command and control, while pushing the pace for Minnesota’s domination.
The Nigerian-born lad looked resplendent as he attacked the space of Nikola Jokić’s drop, getting in the paint, letting it fly, the pullups, the floaters, paint touches and 27 of his 43 points came in the second half with Donte and Ant out.
He held firm in the second half, as Jokić/Murray combined for 27, and Dosunmu went on to become the third Minnesota player to record 40 or more in a playoff game (after Anthony Edwards and Sam Cassell) and they needed every single one.
The Timberwolves lost DiVincenzo early and then got the added blow of losing Edwards late in the second quarter, meaning they had to roll in the mud to get over the threat from Denver, but Dosunmu turned up as a hero when least expected.
While The Wolves’ bench held firm, Dosunmu’s antics were evident is seeing his team enacted 36 of their 50 points off the bench, even as they lost their main pressure point and had to deal with Jaden McDaniels navigating foul trouble.
All headlines heralded the ascent of Quamdeen Ayopo “Ayo” Dosunmu, born January 17th, 2000 in Chicago, USA to a Nigerian father and African American mother, who began his basketball career at Westinghouse College Prep.
As a high school student, he helped lead The Warriors to the 2015 conference championship title against Al Raby High School and scored a season-high 40 points against Crane High School as a freshman.
That earned him Chicago Sun-Times All-City Accolades, following which he transferred to Morgan Park School, where Dosunmu led The Mustangs to a 3A State Championship title during his junior year.
Dosunmu then played college basketball for Illinois Fighting Illini, where he gained consensus first-team All-American honours in his junior season, following which Chicago Bulls selected him with the 38th pick in the 2021 NBA draft.
He was part of USA’s winning squad to the 2018 FIBA U18 Americas Championship, where he won a gold medal with the national team, while averaging 9.5 points, 4.5 assists and 2.3 rebounds during the competition.
On February 4th, 2026, Dosunmu and Julian Philips were traded by The Bulls to Minnesota Timberwolves in exchange for Rob Dillingham, Leonard Miller and four second-round picks ahead of the next season in NBA.
April 25th, 2026 then turned out to be a defining date for Dosunmu, as he recorded a career-high 43 points, including a perfect 5-for-5 from three-point range, in his side’s 112–96 Game 4 victory against Denver Nuggets.
