D’Tigress Will Be Challenged Physically By Competing Against Top WNBA Opposition – Musa Kida

The president of Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF), Engineer Ahmadu Musa Kida has declared that the ongoing tour of United States of America by his country’s women’s national team, D’Tigress will challenge the squad physically and mentally.

Sports247 reports that the Nigerian squad has embarked on a tour of God’s Own Country in preparation towards this year’s FIBA Women’s World Cup in Germany, and Kida believes the games will knock the players into top shape.

He spoke just before the commencement of the tour on Saturday night, when D’Tigress tussled with United States’ National Women’s Basketball Association (WNBA) outfit, Los Angeles Sparks in San Diego.

Sports247 gathered that Saturday’s game will be followed by a clash with Minnesota Lynx in Kansas City on Monday and versus Indiana Fever in Indianapolis on May 2nd, all of which Kida said will see D’Tigress face some of the best players in women’s basketball.

He then affirmed that the tour is a declaration of Nigeria’s huge ambitions and testimony of the NBBF’s aspirations for global glory, as he reckoned that D’Tigress can win this year’s FIBA Mundial, because they have become a dominant force in Africa.

The NBBF president added, “This tour represents more than preparation of our team … it represents intent. Every step we take now is with the World Cup in mind. Our objective is clear: to compete at the highest level and bring that title to Nigeria.”

Sports247 reports further that D’Tigress lost 63-89 to Los Angeles Sparks in the Nigerian squad’s opening game of their USA tour on Saturday night.
