Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen is a “very realistic” target for Barcelona and Real Madrid this summer, according to FIFA agent Mithat Halis.
The Nigeria international has scored 19 goals in 30 games since completing a permanent move to Galatasaray for €75 million last summer, and he continues to be linked with an exit, despite the fact he remains settled in Turkey.
A move to the Premier League appears extremely unlikely due to Osimhen’s lofty wage demands, but La Liga giants Barcelona and Real Madrid have both been touted as possible destinations in recent months and Halis believes that an agreement could be reached this summer.
The FIFA agent, who reportedly represented Osimhen during his time at Wolfsburg, told Spanish publication AS: “Signing Osimhen is very realistic. It would even exceed €100m. His transfer could be between Real Madrid and Barcelona. One has given up on Lewandowski. The other doesn’t have a centre forward.
“Real Madrid hasn’t had a centre forward since Karim Benzema’s time. They are forced to play [Kylian] Mbappe and Vinicius [Jr] as strikers. If they sign Osimhen, Mbappe and Vinicius will play in their natural positions, as wingers, and will be more effective. Victor Osimhen would be a very functional player for Real Madrid.”
Analysis: Should Victor Osimhen join Barcelona or Real Madrid?
Data analytics experts SciSports believe that Osimhen would be better suited to completing a move to Barcelona this summer, with Real Madrid regarded as a poor potential destination for the Nigeria superstar.
At Barcelona, Osimhen would likely usurp the aforementioned Lewandowski as Hansi Flick’s preferred centre forward, if the Poland legend signs a new contract, while he would immediately become a starter if the 27-year-old opts to leave amid significant interest from the MLS.
At Real Madrid, however, Osimhen may struggle to break into the favoured starting XI if Mbappe and Vinicius remain at the club. The latter has been heavily linked with an exit in recent months, but rumours suggest that he could be set to sign a new contract at the Bernabeu, meaning Osimhen would potentially be seen as a rotation option.
