A return of the sports version of the popular television quiz show ‘Jeopardy!’ is in the works – with a familiar face being pegged to host the show.
‘ESPN Jeopardy!’ is in the process of being put together and aired this summer, according to FrontOfficeSports.
The outlet reports that ESPN’s lead NFL play-by-play broadcaster, Joe Buck, is believed to be the host of the new show.
‘ESPN Jeopardy!’ is expected to be aired on Hulu and Disney+ and it may also run on linear television via ABC or ESPN’s streaming platforms, according to FOS.Â
Buck has previous experience as a Jeopardy! host – previously guest-hosting a week of the show in August of 2021, after the death of longtime host Alex Trebek.
This is not the first time that a sports version of the show has been put out on the airwaves.

From 2014 to 2016, ‘Sports Jeopardy!’ aired on the now-defunct digital streaming service Crackle and was hosted by Dan Patrick.
Unlike ‘Sports Jeopardy!’ and its format, ‘ESPN Jeopardy!’ is expected to have mostly celebrity contestants, rather than drawing from the general population, per FOS.
According to FOS, multiple ESPN talents are expected to participate in the show.
No specific names within the ‘Worldwide Leader in Sports’ have been floated as potential contestants.
