The fashion brand has entered provisional liquidation after 16 years, with closing-down sales of up to 70% off now running across all 15 stores
Irish fashion retailer Born Clothing is set to shut down all of its shops throughout Ireland. At its height, the popular high street brand operated over 20 branches nationwide, including three in Cork.
The three Cork locations comprised a prominent unit at Merchant’s Quay Shopping Centre in the city centre, Wilton Shopping Centre and Douglas Village Shopping Centre. The well-established chain stocked garments from a diverse range of brands, including occasion wear.
There are presently 15 Born Clothing outlets trading across the country, and all will launch their closing-down sale this week, offering reductions of up to 70%.
Born Clothing revealed in an Instagram post: “After 16 wonderful years in business, it’s time for us to say goodbye,” they said.
“We want to sincerely thank each and every one of you for your support over the years – for shopping with us, supporting us, and being part of our journey. It has meant more than we can ever put into words.”
The business also seized the chance to honour its committed workforce. It said: “To our wonderful team, thank you for being the heart and soul of our business. Your loyalty and dedication will always be appreciated.”
Born Clothing has announced that its closing-down sale will commence on Thursday, April 23, offering discounts of up to 70% across all products. The Currency has revealed that provisional liquidators were appointed to the firms operating Born Clothing, after “several years of sustained losses”, reports Cork Beo.
A statement on the Born Clothing website confirms the business is under provisional liquidation, meaning gift vouchers cannot be redeemed.
The notice states that purchases made during the liquidation sale will be subject to a 30-day refund or exchange policy, provided there’s a legitimate reason and customers can present a valid liquidation sales receipt.
“As the company is in provisional liquidation, please note the following: no gift vouchers can be accepted during the liquidation sale, no returns of stock bought before the liquidation can be refunded, no credit note provided by the store before the liquidation can be accepted,” the notice reads.
“Claims for refunds/return of stock/credit notes rank as unsecured claims in the liquidation. To submit a claim to the liquidation, please contact bornclothing@bdo.ie for further details.
“All Liquidation Sales allow for a 30 day refund/return policy in store, with reason and accompanying valid liquidation sale customer receipt. Any additional statuary rights remain unaffected.
“If the relevant store has closed, please contact bornclothing@bdo.ie for further details on how to seek a refund.”
