Manchester City have added Chelsea superstar Enzo Fernandez to their list of midfield transfer targets ahead of the upcoming summer window.
The Argentina international has been heavily linked with a Stamford Bridge departure in recent months and he dropped several exit hints during the March international break.
Fernandez admitted that he would love to live in Madrid, amid rumoured interest from Real, while he also heaped praise on Los Blancos legends Toni Kroos and Luka Modric in what was seen as a clear indication of his desire to complete a move to the Bernabeu this summer.
The 25-year-old was subsequently sanctioned by Chelsea, with the midfielder made unavailable for selection against Port Vale and Manchester City, although Liam Rosenior, who was sacked on Wednesday, soon reinstated Fernandez back into the starting XI.
Fernandez was even given the captain’s armband for Chelsea’s 3-0 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion on Tuesday night, in what proved to be Rosenior’s final game in charge.
In addition to Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain have also been linked with a move for Fernandez in recent weeks, while Man City have joined the race for his signature too, as per The Athletic.
Man City want to sign Enzo Fernandez
It’s reported that Pep Guardiola’s side are “considering” a move for Fernandez this summer, although their interest is currently only in its infancy.
Nottingham Forest star Elliot Anderson is widely considered to be Man City’s primary midfield target ahead of the 2026 summer transfer window, but they are set to face significant competition from Manchester United.
Man City’s interest in Fernandez comes following confirmation that club legend Bernardo Silva will depart the Etihad Stadium upon the expiration of his contract in July. Rodri has also been linked with an exit in recent weeks, with City potentially in the market for two new midfielders as a result.
Fernandez, who still has six years remaining on his current Chelsea contract, has scored 12 goals in 48 games so far this season and it’s understood that a fee in excess of €100 million will be required to sign him this summer.
