Arsenal return in transfer for Fresneda

Arsenal are tracking Sporting defender Ivan Fresneda in their pursuit of a new right-back this summer.

The Gunners are expected to invite offers for Ben White and are monitoring a number of players as his replacement, such as Newcastle’s Tino Livramento.

Now, according to The Sun, Fresneda has emerged as a target, having previously been scouted by the Gunners before he moved to Sporting in 2023.

Fresneda has a release clause of €80 million at Sporting but, with two years remaining on his deal, the Portuguese giants are expected to be open to his sale for a lower fee, giving Arsenal a chance to seal a deal.

Celta boss admits ‘difficulty’ in keeping hold of Arsenal target

Along with Fresneda, Arsenal have explored a deal for Oscar Mingueza and Celta Vigo’s manager has admitted that his side face a struggle to keep hold of their star defender.

Mingueza is out of contract at the end of the season and the Gunners are among sides like Aston Villa and Fulham who are considering a move for the versatile right-back on a free transfer.

“He’s a fantastic player. He has a tremendous personality,” Celta head coach Claudio Giraldez told SPORT.

“I hope he can stay. But we know it will be difficult to keep him. I hope he can have a great career because he still has a lot of room for improvement. I like him a lot.”

PSG ready ‘unlimited’ budget for Gabriel as Real Madrid circle

Real Madrid have reportedly placed Arsenal star Gabriel Magalhaes at the top of their shortlist to rejuvenate their ageing defence.

The Spanish giants are expected to make wholesale changes this summer with a number of star veterans leaving such as David Alaba and potentially captain Dani Carvajal.

Madrid are said to be ‘quietly monitoring the situation’, according to Sports Boom and could approach Arsenal in the summer, while Paris Saint-Germain are also interested and are ready to allocate an ‘unlimited budget’ to sign the Brazilian.

While PSG believe they can offer a salary that would ‘make rejection difficult’ for the player, Arsenal see Gabriel as ‘untouchable’ and would only consider his sale if it broke a record fee in the region of €100m-110m.

Arsenal eye shock raid for Tottenham wonderkid

Arsenal could compound the misery on Tottenham if their arch-rivals get relegated this summer by targeting a deal for midfielder Lucas Bergvall.

Although Bergvall has struggled with injury this season, the 20-year-old is seen as a cornerstone of Tottenham’s project and has a deal until 2031, with the club insisting he is unsellable.

However, with Spurs battling relegation, TEAMtalk report that Arsenal, Chelsea and Aston Villa could all look to capitalise on a potential drop in divisions by making a move for Bergvall.

While Arsenal’s rivalry with Tottenham puts them behind Chelsea in the pecking order, it is claimed that ‘imaginative proposals’ are being drawn up to try and tempt Spurs into a reluctant sale.

Esposito agent rules out Arsenal move

The agent of Arsenal target Pio Esposito has dashed the Gunners’ hopes of signing him this summer with comments insisting that the striker is looking to stay at Inter ‘for the next ten years’.

Esposito has been linked with a move to the Emirates in recent months as a young option to compete with Viktor Gyokeres up front but Inter have no desire to sell and there are suggestions that they would demand up to €100m for the 20-year-old.

“He’s happy at Inter. I think the boy and the club want to stay together for the next 10 years,” agent Mario Giuffredi said.

“Thinking about the transfer market for him…unless it’s Inter’s wish, it’s not my wish or the boy’s. For me, the transfer market for Pio Esposito has never started and never will. He’s happy to stay at Inter and pursue his career there.”
