Several big-name Arsenal players have struggled for minutes and could depart this summer.
The Gunners have enjoyed an impressive season on the back of significant investment last year. Several major signings provided Mikel Arteta with outstanding squad depth and enabled the club to be competitive on multiple fronts.
However, because of the sheer number of players at Arteta’s disposal, several key figures have struggled for regular game time. Consequently, transfer speculation is rampant.
Below, FootballTransfers runs through five players who could leave Arsenal this summer…
Ben White
Ben White has been a brilliant servant to Arsenal since joining the club from Brighton in 2021. However, the England international has found game time increasingly hard to come by since Jurrien Timber returned from the ACL injury that robbed him of his first season at the Emirates.
White was already being linked with a departure from Arsenal in January, but Arteta was determined to keep his backline – the most important part of his side – intact. Heading into the summer, it could be a different story, with White courted by various clubs.
Myles Lewis-Skelly
Another full-back who has struggled for minutes, Myles Lewis-Skelly has endured a very difficult season. The teenager burst onto the scene in 2024/25 and earned himself an England call-up thanks to his excellent performances.
Despite this, Arsenal opted to sign Piero Hincapie in the summer, which effectively relegated Lewis-Skelly to third-choice left-back. As a result, he has struggled to get onto the pitch, particularly in the Premier League.
Lewis-Skelly is said to be open to leaving Arsenal on loan, but he could also be sold as he would represent pure profit. With Arsenal having to pay close attention to UEFA’s spending rules, a sale of Lewis-Skelly would be quite valuable.
Ethan Nwaneri
Fellow youngster Ethan Nwaneri could also be on his way out. Still the youngest debutant in Premier League history, the teenager struggled for minutes in the first half of the season and joined Marseille on loan in January.
A big draw was playing under Roberto de Zerbi, but the Italian resigned from his post just a few weeks after Nwaneri’s arrival. He has found it difficult to perform and has faced harsh criticism from the French press.
Like Lewis-Skelly, Nwaneri could leave Arsenal on loan or permanently. He previously fielded interest from Chelsea and Borussia Dortmund and would also represent pure profit.
Gabriel Martinelli
Gabriel Martinelli has been a regular fixture for Arsenal this season, but most of his appearances have come off the bench. The Brazilian has been relegated to the role of super sub this term.
Though he has been impactful, many feel that Arsenal’s side has evolved past Martinelli. Still a valuable asset, the winger could fetch the Gunners a handsome financial windfall this summer.
Martinelli is being courted by various clubs around Europe and from Saudi Arabia, so Arsenal would not struggle to find a buyer.
Gabriel Jesus
Gabriel Jesus was Arsenal’s marquee signing in the summer of 2022, but constant injuries have resulted in his role diminishing season on season. While still a very good player, the Brazilian has seen his career stagnate at the Emirates.
He has been linked with a departure from Arsenal for the best part of two years, and it seems that this summer could finally be the right time for him to move on.
Jesus has been most strongly associated with a return to boyhood club Palmeiras. He has made no secret of his desire to eventually play for the Brazilian giants again, but it is thought that he still feels he has unfinished business in Europe.
