Show regular Melanie Wood said in a new post ‘we unfortunately have sad news to share’
Fans have reacted with shock after a favourite on the hit TV show Aussie Gold Hunters died suddenly. Taking to Facebook today, show regular Melanie Wood announced Marcus McGuire has passed away.
She said: “We unfortunately have sad news to share. Recently we lost one of our own. Marcus, a valued member of the Aussie Gold Hunters family, has sadly passed away.
“Marcus will be remembered for his passion, hard work, and the mark he left on everyone who watched and worked alongside him. Marcus was also a talented musician who played at various venues around WA.
“Our thoughts and condolences go out to his family, friends, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. Rest easy, Marcus.”
Marcus was a regular on the show, appearing with his brother Linden Brownley as they desperately tried to turn up gold on their quest to better their lives. The cause of death is not known but Marcus has been suffering from bad health, and, a talented musician, had to cancel a number of gigs.
Marcus and Linden, from Wongutha, grew up in the Goldfields and spent many years prospecting in the bush together before developing their passion for gold into a profession.
Fans were left stunned at the sad news. Tina said: “That is so very sad to hear. I love watching the two brothers on Gold Hunters. My deepest condolences to the family.” Tracey added: “Oh no… I really admired him & his brother.. they took chances going places you’d never think there would be gold. My sincere condolences to his loved ones & friends. Rest Well in Paradise Marcus.”
Hayley said: “Marcus was a talented musician and a genuinely great bloke from a wonderful family. He will be remembered with great respect and warmth, and my thoughts are with his family in this sad time. “Everyone we love leaves a mark that never fades.” RIP Marcus.”
Richard said: “Just been watching Marcus, Linden and Auntie Dale find some gold on a repeat show here in UK, such happy faces to find some nice nuggets. Wife and I are very sad to hear of Marcus’s passing, our thoughts go out to his wife, family and friends, Rest in peace Marcus.”
Brad added: “I was lucky enough to meet Marcus and spend some time with him. He was a bloody great human being and his musical talents were amazing. Very sad day and will not be forgotten. Condolences to his family and friends. RIP”
