The Philadelphia Eagles’ Super Bowl LIX win over the Kansas City Chiefs is now a part of lunar history.
Roughly 4.5 billion years after the moon’s formation, Artemis II astronaut Christina Koch flew some confetti from the 2025 victory around Earth’s natural satellite, as she revealed in a social media post dedicated to her husband.
Years earlier, Koch adopted her husband Bob’s allegiances to the Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies. She’s even watched both teams during previous space missions but took things a step further aboard the Orion spacecraft.
‘Going to the Moon may have been my Super Bowl, but I sure loved watching yours,’ she wrote on Instagram alongside a photo of herself and her husband at the game. ‘(I watch Eagles games on Earth, too.)
‘My husband introduced me to this team and city—gritty, hard working and embodying the underdog mentality,’ she continued. ‘Now I’m all in. As a surprise for him, I flew confetti from Super Bowl LIX around the Moon.
‘Go birds!’

She ended her message by thanking ‘@jalenhurts and @philadelphiaeagles for the welcome home.’
Previously, Hurts recorded a video message welcoming the Artemis II crew back to Earth.
Eagles fans were naturally thrilled to learn confetti from the Eagles’ win at New Orleans’ Superdome was flown around the moon.
‘THE COOLEST HUMAN ALIVE!!!!’ one fan wrote online. ‘GO BIRDS.’
‘Christina for president!!!!’ another added.
Koch lives in Galveston, Texas with her husband, Bob, who is a geospatial engineer with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, according to his LinkedIn page.
Christina, meanwhile, is the first woman to travel beyond low Earth orbit to fly around the moon.
