Harry Maguire reportedly turned down the chance to become Inter Miami’s latest high-profile signing before signing a new deal at Manchester United.
The England defender penned a new one-year contract extension with the Red Devils on Tuesday.

Not short of options
Maguire’s previous deal was due to expire this summer, but he is now committed to the club until 2027, with the option for a further year.
This put an end to speculation over his future, with eSPORTY reporting the 33-year-old had the option of a lucrative free transfer, with interest from other Premier League and top European clubs.
But it now appears Maguire could have moved even further afield, with David Beckham’s Inter Miami reportedly among those keen.
According to The Sun, the Englishman had interest from the MLS outfit but chose to turn down a lucrative deal.
Had he opted to move Stateside, Maguire would have become Beckham’s latest big-name arrival, with Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez already stars at the Florida franchise.
Napoli are also said to have been touted as potential suitors, having been impressed by the centre-back’s recent resurgence.

Maguire has once again become a mainstay in Man United’s backline following Michael Carrick’s appointment earlier in the year.
Carrick was placed in interim charge of the Red Devils in January following Ruben Amorim’s sacking, and immediately made Maguire a key player.
The towering defender has started all ten games since and emerged as one of United’s most pivotal players, who have collected 23 points during this time and have moved up to third in the Premier League.
Maguire’s form saw him rewarded with an England recall last month, and he played the full 90 minutes in their 1-1 draw with Uruguay.

Having returned to the top of his game, United moved to secure Maguire’s future, whose experience will prove vital next season should they go on to secure Champions League qualification.
On signing a contract extension, the England international said: “Representing Manchester United is the ultimate honour.
“It is a responsibility that makes myself and my family proud every single day.
“I am delighted to extend my journey at this incredible club to at least eight seasons and continue to play in front of our special supporters to create more amazing moments together.
“You can feel the ambition and potential of this exciting squad. The determination throughout the whole club to fight for major trophies is clear for everyone to see and I am confident that our best moments together remain ahead of us.”
Maguire joined Man United from Leicester for £85million in 2019, which remains a world-record fee for a defender.

He was made club captain by then-manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in January 2020 after Ashley Young left for Inter Milan and led United for three-and-a-half years.
Maguire was stripped of the captaincy in 2023 by Erik ten Hag, and the Red Devils then accepted a £30m offer for him from West Ham.
But the club’s failure to make up the shortfall in Maguire’s £200,000-a-week wages caused the deal to collapse.
Having struggled for game time under Ten Hag’s successor, Amorim, Maguire’s new deal sees him complete a remarkable turnaround.
With the Premier League resuming following the international break, Maguire will be desperate to keep up his strong form to help United secure a top-four finish and guarantee Champions League qualification.
The Red Devils return to action against Leeds on Monday, but Maguire is suspended for the clash after he was sent off in his side’s 2-2 draw at Bournemouth last month.
