2026 National Sports Festival Will Set New Benchmark In Organisation – Olopade

Director-general of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Honourable Bukola Olopade has spoken out confidently that Nigeria will receive a new benchmark in organisation of competitive events later this year in Enugu State.

Olopade disclosed this while providing updated information towards this year’s National Sports Festival in The Coal City, which he assured will be a new benchmark for the country and confirmation of Enugu State’s ability to host world-class events.

The NSC’s top shot stated this while disclosing names of sports personalities who will serve as members of the Main Organising Committee (MOC) for the 23rd edituon of the large scale festival tagged Enugu 2026.

His announcement also came ahead of the MOC’s inaugural meeting, which is scheduled to take place this Thursday, as plans intensify by the government of Enugu State towards a successful hosting of the multi-sports competition.

Olopade explained that the meeting will be another significant step forward in plans for the festival; as it will focus on infrastructure, logistics, accommodation, security, media and the overall framework of a flawless hosting venture.

He added that Enugu 2026 will be historic, as it is the first time the state will host the festival and Olopade, who is the MOC’s chairman, affirmed the NSC’s commitment towards staging a highly-successful and memorable festival in collaboration with the host government.

While assuring the state of total support from the sports commission, Olopade pointed out that early commencement of planning reflects the NSC’s determination to ensure a successful festival later this year.

Olopade stated, “The National Sports Festival remains a vital platform for talent discovery, youth engagement, and national unity. We are committed to working closely with the Enugu State Government and all stakeholders to ensure that Enugu 2026 sets a new benchmark in organisation and excellence.”
