Tottenham Hotspur remain one of the biggest clubs in the Premier League, despite their empty trophy cabinet over recent years.

The North London club ended their long wait for silverware with Europa League glory in 2025, but they haven’t won the English top flight since 1961, despite a huge amount of money being spent during the 21st century.

Below, FootballTransfers runs through how much Tottenham have spent since ENIC became the majority owners of the club in December 2000.

How much have Tottenham spent on transfers under ENIC?

Tottenham have spent a total of €2.4675 billion (€2,467.5 million) on transfers since ENIC took over in 2000.

Tottenham’s first major signing following ENIC’s arrival was Christian Ziege from Liverpool, while Gustavo Poyet and Goran Bunjevcevic also joined during the same transfer window.

Under the 24-year stewardship of executive chairman Daniel Levy, Spurs weren’t known for splashing the cash on transfers, and they only spent over €100m on new signings in a single season twice before 2017.

That happened in the 2008-09 campaign – with Luka Modric and David Bentley among the arrivals – and in 2013-14 following the sale of Gareth Bale.

Under Levy, their biggest spending season came in 2023-24 as Spurs shelled out a whopping €272.1m on new signings. Brennan Johnson, James Maddison and Micky van de Ven were the most expensive summer arrivals, while Radu Dragusin joined from Genoa in January.

After the 2025 summer window, Levy was unceremoniously sacked. ENIC subsequently loosened the purse strings in 2026 and spent a record €366.4m on fresh recruits, including the signings of Sandro Tonali for €108m and Mateus Fernandes for €99m.
