Micah Parsons has sensationally claimed Jayden Daniels ‘probably cost Dan Quinn his job’ as coach of the Washington Commanders after their error-strewn ending against the New York Giants.
On Sunday, the Commanders inexplicably ran the clock out on themselves in field-goal range and had to settle for a tie against the Giants, falling to 1-3-1.
When a field goal would have won the game for Washington, Daniels and the Commanders offense ran a play and then ran out of time as a result.
The incident left Commanders fans furious and has led to a serious inquest into what happened and who was behind the controversial decisions.
But Parsons, who plays for the Green Bay Packers but worked with Quinn at the Dallas Cowboys, has claimed it was Daniels who was at fault and believes the mistake has put his coach in the hot seat.
‘Jayden Daniels probably cost my man Dan Quinn his job, to be honest with you,’ Parsons said, via Nicki Jhabvala of The Athletic.

Quinn and his Commanders team in explicably ran out the clock for a tie against the Giants

Parsons was stunned that Daniels didn’t appear to know what was going on in that final drive
‘To be honest with you. And, like, I’m a big Jayden Daniels fan. But the reality is, he probably cost a lot of people their jobs this past weekend.
‘All respectfully, we get coached so much on these situations that, like, I’m a defensive player, and this s***’s programmed to me. I even know what to do in those situations. There’s no way I’m taking a sack with 14 seconds left and no timeouts.
‘Mind you, it’d be different if Jayden Daniels was a rookie. This is your third year. This is your third year. You’ve been to the NFC Championship game. You’ve been in big moments before. And to me, like even after a sack, you’re casually getting up.’
Both the Giants and Commanders had chances to run the clock down and kick a field goal to win in overtime. New York was in position with two minutes remaining to try a 42-yarder.
But Dominic Zvada had already missed from 50, 57 and 46 yards, so coach John Harbaugh wanted to get it closer. However, Cam Skattebo fumbled, giving Washington an opportunity.
Jayden Daniels then drove the Commanders to the Giants 26. On first down, Rachaad White ran two yards and was tackled with just under 50 seconds to go. Instead of spiking the ball to stop the clock and kicking, the Commanders huddled.
Daniels went to the line of scrimmage with around 20 seconds remaining and snapped the ball with 12 seconds to go. He didn´t spike it or throw it out of bounds. Daniels ran, got tackled and was slow to get up, leaving Washington no time for a field-goal attempt as Quinn threw his headset in disgust.
Quinn accepted the blame, saying: ‘The sequencing of that does not fall on (Daniels). It´s an outside throw or a clock – an out of bounds throw, or a clock.
‘That has to come from me. I have to put him in that spot. I can do that earlier and we can finish the kick earlier. We don´t need to gain more yards.’
