The two-legged tie will take place between February 23 and March 6, 2027, with both nations seeking to move closer to securing a place at the Olympic Games.
Nigeria booked their place in the third round after defeating Comoros 5–0 in the second leg of their qualifying tie in Ikenne on Tuesday. The victory completed a 7–0 aggregate win, following their 2–0 success in the opening match.
Toni Payne and Uchenna Kanu scored twice each, while Christy Ucheibe converted a penalty as the Super Falcons produced a convincing performance to advance.

Sports247 reports that the victory has set up a more demanding test for interim coach Augustine Eguavoen, whose side must now prepare for a Moroccan team that advanced after the Republic of Congo withdrew from the qualifying competition.

The upcoming encounter will bring back memories of the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations final, when Nigeria defeated Morocco 3–2 to claim the continental title.
That result gives the Super Falcons a positive reference point, although the Olympic qualifiers will present a different challenge, with both teams competing over two legs for a place in the next round.
Morocco will be eager to use home advantage and their growing experience in women’s football to challenge Nigeria, while the Super Falcons will look to their attacking quality and tournament experience.

Nigeria have a strong Olympic history, having featured at the women’s football tournament in 2000, 2004, 2008 and 2024. However, qualification is far from guaranteed, as the team must progress through several knockout rounds before reaching Los Angeles.

Only two African nations will qualify for the women’s football tournament at the 2028 Olympics, increasing the importance of every round.

For Nigeria, the mission is clear: prepare well, overcome Morocco and keep the Olympic dream alive.
