Super Falcons Hold Recovery Session in Ijebu-Ode After Comoros Victory, Shift Focus to Olympic Qualifier Second Leg

The Super Falcons of Nigeria have stepped up their preparations for the second leg of their Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games qualifying encounter against Comoros, holding a recovery session at the Dipo Dina Stadium in Ijebu-Ode following their impressive 2-0 first-leg victory.
The recovery session provided an opportunity for the players to regain their fitness and recover from the physical demands of the opening encounter before returning to full training ahead of the decisive second leg.
Sports247 reports that Nigeria secured a comfortable advantage in the first leg at the Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne, courtesy of second-half goals from Michelle Alozie and Uchenna Kanu.
After a goalless first half, the Super Falcons returned with renewed attacking determination and broke the deadlock in the 48th minute through Alozie.
The defender finished from close range after Gift Monday headed the ball into her path, giving Nigeria a deserved lead and setting the tone for an improved second-half performance.
The nine-time African champions continued to press forward and doubled their advantage in the 59th minute when Uchenna Kanu converted a well-delivered corner kick from Jennifer Echegini.
The two goals ensured that Nigeria finished the encounter with a valuable advantage, putting themselves in a strong position ahead of the return fixture.
Following the victory, attention has now shifted towards ensuring that the players remain physically prepared and mentally focused for the challenge ahead.
The recovery session at Dipo Dina Stadium forms part of the team’s preparations, with the technical crew expected to assess the players’ condition before intensifying tactical work.
The Super Falcons are scheduled to begin full preparations for the second leg tomorrow, as they seek to build on the positives from their opening performance while addressing areas requiring improvement.
Despite holding a two-goal advantage, Nigeria will be determined to avoid complacency against a Comoros side expected to fight for a place in the next round.
Maintaining defensive discipline and improving attacking efficiency will be important as the Super Falcons look to complete the job.
With qualification for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games remaining the ultimate objective, Nigeria will be hoping to produce another convincing performance and progress to the next stage.
The Super Falcons will face Comoros in the second leg on Tuesday, aiming to protect their advantage and continue their journey towards securing a place at the 2028 Olympic Games.
