Arsenal face a dilemma over the future of winger Noni Madueke, who has alerted clubs that he is unhappy with his current lack of game time under Mikel Arteta.

Article continues under the video

Madueke joined Arsenal in a surprising €56 million (£48.5m) move from London rivals Chelsea little over a year ago, but while the 24-year-old initially impressed at the Emirates Stadium, holding down a starting berth has been beyond him.

He finds Bukayo Saka blocking his way on the right wing while any prospect of playing on the left appears to have been shutdown by the arrival of Christos Tzolis from Club Brugge in the summer. And there is also the emergence of Max Dowman to consider.

The former PSV player is assessing his future and, according to the Daily Briefing, has attracted serious attention from no fewer than half a dozen clubs.

While Arsenal have made it clear that they want the winger to stay, the latest developments do leave them well placed ahead of 2027.

Arsenal stand to make a healthy profit

Madueke has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €62m, which strongly suggests that the Gunners will land a quick profit on the England international, who has scored nine goals for them in 48 appearances.

This is particularly the case with six clubs following him. The prospect of a bidding war is something that Arsenal will welcome, particularly given that Atletico Madrid and Juventus, two of the teams who reportedly want to sign the attacker, are not direct rivals in the Premier League.

While Madueke may not be a player that the Gunners feel they want to offload, it may be that the pragmatic thing to do is sell him, particularly given that they are known to want to strengthen themselves in the attacking midfield area.

With the club willing to break the bank to sign a player like Real Madrid’s Vinicius Junior, it may well be that if that becomes a possibility, Madueke is one of those who could be sacrificed.

Madueke’s Arsenal legacy promises to be a positive one

Working on the assumption that Madueke were to leave even for €60m, in no way could he be considered a poor piece of business by Arsenal.

Not only did he chip in at key moments during their historic 2025/26 season – something that has no doubt caught the eye of clubs – but he stands to make a healthy profit for the club.

From the player’s perspective, though, there is a certain logic in leaving next year should he continue to struggle for pitch time. At 24 years old, he is approaching the peak years of his career, and given the type of big clubs following him, it would be a logical step to go there and have more opportunities.
