Qinwen Zheng defeated Elina Svitolina 6-3, 7-6 to book her place in the semifinals of the China Open in Beijing.
The Chinese star delivered an impressive performance to overcome Svitolina, securing her second semifinal appearance in Beijing and her first WTA 1000 semifinal since the Italian Open in Rome last year.
The victory also marked Zheng’s second top-10 win of the season, following her triumph over Iga Swiatek at the US Open. Playing in front of her home crowd, Zheng continues to build momentum as she targets a place in the final.
