Leicester City midfielder Louis Page has broken his silence after his proposed summer move to Manchester United fell through on Transfer Deadline Day.
The 18-year-old was expected to complete a blockbuster move to Old Trafford on the final day of the summer window, but Michael Carrick’s side were ultimately unable to finalise a deal and he was forced to remain at the King Power Stadium.
Man Utd reportedly remain confident of signing Page next year and talks over a potential January move are ongoing as the Red Devils look to fight off significant competition for his signature.
Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund are believed to be monitoring Page’s situation closely, as they look to land another talented England youth international, while several Premier League clubs are expected to battle Man Utd in the race to sign him too, including Arsenal.
Page has registered three assists in seven matches across all competitions so far this season, and Leicester are set to demand a fee in excess of the €11.7 million that Manchester City paid to sign Jeremy Monga over the summer.

“It’s been a whirlwind, a lot of things going on, but I think for me it’s about concentrating on, I’m here at Leicester, I’ve got a contract at Leicester and my aim is to get this club back to the Championship and that’s what I want to do,” Page told BBC Radio Leicester ahead of the Foxes’ clash against Barnsley on Saturday afternoon.
“Being focused and stuff, the manager has helped me loads with that, he said that he wants me to stay here and he believes that I can develop into the player that I hopefully will be one day, and I believe that he will get me there as well.”
When asked about Man Utd’s transfer interest, Page added: “I just took it as a positive really, if clubs like that are interested in me, it’s obviously down to what I’m doing on the pitch, so as long as I keep doing better and better I can let people do the talking and I’ll just talk on the pitch.
“My parents always help me stay grounded, they just said: ‘You’re at Leicester now, nobody is telling us any different, so just go out there when you’re playing and play with the freedom and just make sure you play well when you’re playing.’
“I was obviously fully focused anyway on Leicester, but I think now that it’s [the transfer window] shut, I know that I’m staying here, everyone knows that I’m staying here. So that talk can be put to rest and everyone’s just focused on me playing for Leicester now.”
