Being a football manager is arguably the worst career choice possible if you want job security.
Indeed, soccer coaches are sacked on a regular basis as clubs across the world make changes in order to try and achieve success.
Across Europe’s top leagues and beyond, head coaches are either sacked or choose to resign frequently throughout the season, with the length of a manager’s stint getting shorter and shorter with each passing year.
In fact, the next manager to be sacked is a vital part of football transfer news, as the impact of a managerial change can often make a huge difference both on and off the pitch. Furthermore, patience with managers grows ever thinner with each defeat a team suffers.
The 2026-27 European season has only just begun, but numerous managers are already under huge pressure across the Premier League, La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga and Ligue 1.

Sacked/departed Premier League managers in 2026-27

The first managerial casualty in the Premier League is yet to fall, although Fulham boss Alvaro Arbeloa is already under huge pressure at Craven Cottage following a hugely underwhelming start to his coaching career in England.
Tottenham Hotspur head coach Roberto De Zerbi is also a candidate to be sacked after a tough start to the new campaign.
In 2025-26, Ange Postecoglou, Enzo Maresca, Ruben Amorim, Thomas Frank and Liam Rosenior were among the managers to be sacked in the Premier League.

Villarreal’s Inigo Perez and Valencia’s Carlos Corberan are under pressure after slow starts to the new season.
In 2025-26, Xabi Alonso and Matias Almeyda were among the managers to be sacked in La Liga.

Fabio Grosso became the first manager to be sacked in Europe’s top five leagues during the 2026-27 season when he was fired by Fiorentina on 6 September.
La Viola had lost their opening three matches of the Serie A season and Grosso was swiftly dismissed, with Paolo Vanoli hired as his replacement.
In 2025-26, Igor Tudor, Patrick Vieira and Massimiliano Allegri were among the managers to be sacked in Serie A.

Borussia Monchengladbach boss Eugen Polanski is the manager under the most pressure as things stand, following a difficult start to the campaign.
