The agent of Barcelona midfielder Gavi has confirmed that he will not leave Camp Nou during the upcoming January transfer window, despite interest from “all the Premier League giants.”
The Spain international, 22, has played a bit part role for Hansi Flick’s side during the early months of the new season and his lack of game time has resulted in strong speculation suggesting he could leave Camp Nou next year.
Gavi has only racked up 211 minutes of action from a possible 1,350 across all competitions so far this season, and he has already been an unused substitute on five occasions in La Liga.
He has fallen down the pecking order thanks to the impressive form of fellow academy graduate Marc Bernal and the summer arrival of Rodri from Manchester City, while his place in the team has been threatened further by Frenkie de Jong’s return to full fitness.
As a result, Bayern Munich and “all of their Premier League giants” are interested in finalising a possible deal in 2027, as per Diario Sport, while Serie A outfit Napoli have also joined the race to secure the 22-year-old’s signature.
However, Gavi’s agent, Ivan de la Pena, has poured cold water on rumours that his client could leave Barcelona.
“I haven’t negotiated with anyone,” he confirmed to Diario Sport. “Gavi is staying [at Barcelona].”
Gavi has suffered with numerous injury issues over the past few years and his Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) has subsequently fallen from a peak of €122 million in 2024 to a mere €31.5m.
Gavi to stay at Barcelona
Chelsea and Manchester United are among the clubs understood to have been tracking Gavi’s situation at Barcelona ahead of a possible move, with both Premier League giants keeping tabs on his development for over a year.
However, the Spain star looks set to remain at Camp Nou for the foreseeable future, despite the fact he is no longer one of Flick’s preferred options in the middle of the park.
Chelsea are instead expected to bolster their ranks with the signing of Bournemouth star Alex Scott in January, while Man Utd will prioritise other areas of the pitch after improving their midfield with the additions of Carlos Baleba, Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans over the summer.
