Nigeria U17 Women Beat Brazil 3-1 to Secure Impressive World Cup Play-Off Victory

Nigeria’s U17 women’s team produced an impressive second-half performance to defeat Brazil 3-1 in the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup play-off, with Joseph Q. and Bashiru A. leading the way in a convincing victory on Wednesday.

After a goalless first half, the Flamingos stepped up their performance after the break, scoring three times to take control of the contest and secure an important win against their Brazilian opponents.

Joseph Q. broke the deadlock in the 56th minute, putting Nigeria ahead after a closely contested opening period. The goal gave the Nigerian side the confidence to push forward, and they continued to trouble Brazil’s defence.

Bashiru A. doubled Nigeria’s advantage in the 71st minute, putting the Flamingos in a comfortable position. She struck again in the 80th minute to complete her brace and extend Nigeria’s lead to 3-0.

Brazil managed to pull one back through Greise Kelly in the 89th minute, but the late goal came too late to change the outcome.

The victory represents another encouraging performance from Nigeria’s young side, who showed their attacking quality and ability to take control of difficult matches.

With three second-half goals against a strong Brazilian team, the Flamingos will take plenty of confidence from this result as they continue their World Cup campaign.
