Nickeil Alexander-Walker could hardly miss from beyond the arc as the Atlanta Hawks picked up a hard-fought 108-104 road victory over the Indiana Pacers.
Alexander-Walker finished with 34 points and four steals, but it was his shooting from long range that really stood out. He connected on nine three-pointers, tying his career high in a performance that gave Atlanta the offensive spark it needed.
The Hawks had to work for this one, with Indiana staying within touching distance throughout the contest. However, Alexander-Walker’s scoring proved decisive as Atlanta found a way to leave with the win.
Onyeka Okongwu contributed a double-double of 13 points and 10 rebounds, while CJ McCollum came close to recording a triple-double after finishing with 13 points, nine rebounds and 12 assists.
It was a useful team performance from Atlanta, but Alexander-Walker deserves most of the attention after producing one of his best shooting displays.
The victory moves the Hawks to 4-4, while the Pacers slip to 2-6. For Alexander-Walker, tying his career high with nine three-pointers is the sort of performance that could give his confidence a significant boost heading into the next game.
