New Orleans Saints make 'significant' coaching shakeup as team fires coordinator TJ Paganetti after struggles derailed start to the season

The New Orleans Saints have made a major shakeup to their coaching staff amid their ongoing struggles in the NFL.

On Monday afternoon, it was confirmed that the franchise had parted ways with run game coordinator TJ Paganetti ahead of their Week 9 matchup against the Browns.

The news was revealed by NFL Insider Ian Rapoport, who labeled the decision a ‘significant’ change amid the run-game issues that have ‘plagued’ the team.

The dismissal comes as the Saints desperately search for answers to salvage their rapidly derailing campaign, which has seen them fall to a 2-5 record thus far.

In the current season, New Orleans are averaging just 86 rushing yards per game, ranking them 28th across the NFL.

In their previous game, before heading into a recent bye week, the Saints only mustered 18 rushing yards on 17 attempts in a 16-10 loss to the Steelers in Paris.

Frustrated fans have directed their anger toward coaching staff and front office, demanding change to a rushing scheme that has failed to generate momentum.

Paganetti’s career in the NFL began back in 2013 when he joined the Philadelphia Eagles as an analyst, where he remained for two years.

He then opted to return to college football from 2015 until 2016 at Oregon and served as a graduate assistant after graduating from college.

Paganetti then went back to the Eagles, where he held a number of different titles, including run game specialist during 2023 and 2024.

He was part of the coaching staff that won Super Bowl LIX over the Chiefs.

The Massachusetts native then headed to New Orleans in February 2025, following head coach Kellen Moore from Philadelphia.
