NFL star Christian Watson reveals he was 'spitting up blood' and watching game on doctor's phone at hospital… before miraculously returning to play

Green Bay Packers star Christian Watson detailed the moment he was rushed to hospital for ‘spitting up blood’ before making a miraculous return to Thursday’s game.

The wide receiver exited the Packers’ 27-19 win over the Carolina Panthers following a collision with two defenders while hauling in a long catch in the second quarter of the Thursday Night Football matchup.

He walked off the field under his own power and was seen heading back to the locker room, but the situation took a scary turn when he was later seen being loaded into the back of an ambulance.

Watson, who later returned to Lambeau Field and took to the field in a wild turn of events, revealed following the game that he had been rushed to hospital to further testing over fears of internal bleeding.

‘It was tough,’ Watson told Amazon Prime’s Kaylee Hartung. ‘I never wanted to go. I was hoping that they would let me off. I said it was feeling better once I kind of caught my breath. But they said there was a couple signs that made them have to take me over there.

‘I was just praying that there was it was good enough to where I could come back out here, and obviously, thankfully it was.’

Watson revealed that he had been ‘spitting a little blood,’ which made the team concerned enough to want to run further tests to ensure there was ‘nothing crazy.’

Thankfully for Watson and the Packers, he received the all-clear from doctors at the nearby hospital and returned to the stadium after just one hour.

Watson revealed that he was keeping track of the game throughout his absence, keeping track of the play-by-play from a doctor’s phone.

‘I was just watching the play-by-play,’ he said. ‘I saw [Matthew Golden’s] touchdown. I was hyped. I saw Josh’s (Jacobs) touchdown. I was like, all right, we’re doing something.’

Before halftime, the Amazon Prime broadcast had cut to pictures from the tunnel, where Watson was seen climbing into the ambulance.

According to the report, he was set to undergo precautionary tests for a suspected chest injury.

Around an hour later he made his surprising return to Lambeau Field. But that wasn’t even his most impressive feat of the evening.

Shortly after, an even more remarkable scene unfolded as Watson hopped out of the same ambulance, spent three minutes in the locker room, and then made his way back to the field to continue playing in the game.

A camera caught the amazing moment he ran down the tunnel and emerged in front of the crowd, which understandably went wild at the sight of the wide receiver.

Seemingly understanding the gravity of the situation, Watson himself was seen pumping up the crowd as he ran back to his teammates on the sideline – they too seemed extremely surprised to see him.

A few plays later he was back in the game, and immediately being targeted by quarterback Jordan Love to add to his totals against the Panthers.
