A strong hint has emerged that Nigeria’s female national team, Super Falcons, will soon get another foreign technical adviser, who will take charge of the squad heading into the Olympic Games, Sports247 gathered.
Although Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) technical director, Augustine Eguavoen is currently serving as the Falcons’ interim coach, egg heads of the governing body are already making moves to get a substantive handler for the team.

However, due to recent setbacks for the squad under the guidance of an indigenous tactician, the NFF appears predisposed towards returning to the days when the Falcons were coached by expatriates – Thomas Dennerby and Andy Waldrum.
This was revealed by National Sports Commission (NSC) director-general, Honourable Bukola Olopade, who confirmed that the NFF is among a long line of Nigeria’s sports federations that have approached the umbrella body with requests for foreign technical support.
Olopade also conceded that the NSC is ready to aid any of the country’s sports federations that formally steps forward in search of foreign technical support to strengthen their teams and improve Nigeria’s performances in continental and global competitions.
He hinted that a similar request from the NFF saw to the arrival of Franco-Malian tactician, Eric Sekou Chelle with the Super Eagles and projected that a similar top level agreement is bound to bring a foreigner into the Falcons’ technical saddle as well.
NSC’s amiable ‘D.G’ revealed: “The NFF came forward with a request for foreign technical support for the Super Eagles, and we backed that decision because we understand the importance of getting the right expertise to help our national teams achieve their objectives.
“Now that the NFF is requesting foreign technical support for the Super Falcons, we are ready and willing to hit the ground running. We want our national teams to have the best possible technical guidance, and where foreign expertise is required, we will give the necessary support.”
Sports247 gathered further that Olopade also assured that the NSC will always be ready to back any federation that comes forward with an appeal for support that would help them compete effectively and with clearly defined technical needs, towards gaining better results for Nigeria.
