Liverpool may have only won two Premier League titles during the competition’s existence, but they remain arguably the biggest club in England.
The Reds’ triumph in the 2005 Champions League final was followed by a period of little domestic success before Fenway Sports Group (FSG) bought the club in October 2010.
Although Liverpool remained near mid-table obscurity for several years, they soon mounted a title charge under Brendan Rodgers before Jurgen Klopp was hired in October 2015.

Under Klopp, Liverpool were the closest challengers to Manchester City and they won a Premier League and Champions League title during the German’s reign.
After replacing Klopp in May 2024, Arne Slot led Liverpool to the Premier League title in 2024-25 and was given a multi-million pound warchest ahead of the 2025-26 season.
The Dutchman splurged €145m on Alexander Isak, €125m on Florian Wirtz and €95m on Hugo Ekitike but his team underwhelmed, leading to his dismissal in May 2026.
Slot has since been replaced by Andoni Iraola and the Spaniard was well-backed by FSG in the summer of 2026, spending €125m on Bradley Barcola.
Below, FootballTransfers runs through how much Liverpool have spent since FSG took over.
How much have Liverpool spent on transfers under FSG?
Liverpool have spent €2.269 billion on transfers since FSG took over in 2010.
After taking charge in October 2010, FSG spent €68m on transfers in their first transfer window as Liverpool owners in January 2011.
The Reds signed Luis Suarez from Ajax for €27m, with the Uruguay legend going on to become one of the greatest players the club has ever seen.
However, Liverpool also captured Andy Carroll from Newcastle United for €41m in the same window, with the striker remembered as one of the worst signings in the club’s history.
After several years of spending under €75m, FSG began investing heavily in 2014. Liverpool spent €151m during the 2014-15 season, followed by €127m in 2015-16.
Liverpool then splashed a whopping €192m in 2018-19, strengthening Klopp’s options with the additions of Alisson, Fabinho, Naby Keita and Xherdan Shaqiri.
The Merseysiders would not crack the €100m mark again until 2022-23, before repeating this feat the following season when they had to replace ageing players.
Liverpool then broke the bank to sign Isak for a British record fee of €145m in 2025-26, while Milos Kerkez (€47m) and Jeremie Frimpong (€40m) also joined for big fees.
And the 20-time league champions then loosened the purse strings to extract France international Barcola from Paris Saint-Germain for €125m in August 2026.
