NFL execs are 'furious' with Eagles over handling of Jalen Hurts' blood clot drama, bombshell report claims

NFL leadership is not happy with the Philadelphia Eagles over their handling of the Jalen Hurts blood clot situation.

The decision made by Eagles medical staff to play Hurts despite the presence of a superficial blood clot has drawn scrutiny across the league.

On Sunday, before the Steelers-Saints game in Paris, both the NFL and the NFL Players Association announced they are ‘working together to review the matter.’

According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, the NFLPA has the ability to escalate their mission to a fully independent investigation if it ‘believes the current co-investigation is obstructed or misled in any way.’

The outlet also reported that the league office and NFL commissioner Roger Goodell are ‘furious’ over the Eagles’ handling of Hurts’ health.

Moreover, the league has an issue with the Eagles’ lack of public transparency. Only head coach Nick Sirianni has made statements about Hurts’ situation.

Meanwhile, Goodell and the NFL’s chief medical officer, Allen Sills, needed to answer questions about Hurts during last week’s owners meeting in New York.

‘The notion that there are external factors or that any of our physicians would put a player in harm’s way — that’s nonsense,’ Sills said.

‘I think there was incredible vigilance, there was conservative care, state-of-the-art imaging that was done in London. And, as far as the timing and the decision-making, I have great confidence in that and believe that everyone acted with an abundance of caution.’

The Inquirer’s sources say the league doesn’t have an issue with the timeline and treatment of the quarterback. Instead, the issue lies in how the Eagles didn’t provide clear answers to questions about Hurts’ examinations, tests and travel situation.

The Eagles’ season is now on life support. At 2-4, they will roll out Tanner McKee at quarterback for the foreseeable future as multiple players – including Hurts – sit on Injured Reserve.

Philadelphia plays the Dallas Cowboys on Monday Night Football this week.
