Arsenal are “seriously interested” in signing Club Brugge striker Nicolo Tresoldi, according to reports.

Mikel Arteta’s side were eager to sign a new centre forward over the summer, however they were unable to finalise a deal with Atletico Madrid for Julian Alvarez and they were ultimately left empty-handed.

However, bolstering their attack remains the Gunners’ priority in the transfer market and it’s understood that a new left winger is their primary target for 2027, while a striker will be pursued if Viktor Gyokeres departs.

The Sweden star has been heavily linked with an exit in recent weeks, after losing his starting XI place to Kai Havertz, and widespread reports suggest that he will explore his options if he is unable to work his way back into favour over the coming months.

Arsenal remain interested in Alvarez, amid his uncertain long-term future at Atletico Madrid, while Bournemouth attacker Eli Junior Kroupi is firmly on their radar too following a sensational debut campaign in the Premier League. In addition, the Gunners have been tipped to pursue a deal for the aforementioned Tresoldi.

Tresoldi has been linked with a possible move to the Emirates Stadium for several months and Sky Sports have confirmed that Arsenal remain “seriously interested” in finalising a deal for the 22-year-old striker.

Eligible for both Italy and Germany at international level, Tresoldi has scored nine goals in 13 games across all competitions for Club Brugge so far this term, and he is currently the joint-top goalscorer in this season’s Champions League, with four strikes in the competition.

Analysis: Is Nicolo Tresoldi good enough for Arsenal?

Tresoldi netted 23 goals and provided nine assists across all competitions last season, and he starred in Club Brugge’s attack alongside Christos Tzolis, who joined Arsenal for €35 million this summer.

His form has continued this term and his predatory instincts inside the penalty area could be hugely beneficial for Arsenal, who have lacked the attacking potency of other top European clubs over the past 12 months.

However, Tresoldi has never played in a top five European league, so Arsenal would be taking a massive risk if they bring him to the club as a perceived upgrade on Gyokeres.

As a result, it may be wise to pursue a more proven name, such as the aforementioned Alvarez or Kroupi.
