Steelers head coach Mike McCarthy, 62, spends entirety of halftime in the blue tent after suffering painful injury on the sideline

The Blue Tent saw a rare appearance from a coach rather than the typical players that require its services.

On Sunday in Tampa, Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike McCarthy did not follow his team into the locker room at halftime.

Instead, he went inside the tent to get his ankle checked out after appearing to injure it late in the first half.

McCarthy was seen limping to the sidelines and even needed help to get there before being examined.

However, the 62-year-old coach was treated and was patched up enough to remain on the bench for the rest of the game.

After the game ended, McCarthy didn’t exactly give a glowing review of the conditions inside the enclosure in the middle of the Florida sunshine.

‘I don’t recommend it. It’s really hot in there,’ he said, according to The Athletic’s Mike DeFabo.

Whatever led to McCarthy’s injury, he was able to move past it in order to coach Pittsburgh to a close victory.

After trailing the Buccaneers 13-3 at the half, the Steelers scored 16 fourth-quarter points which led to overtime.

On the Steelers’ only drive, they managed to score a touchdown to take a 26-19 lead that they would ride to a victory after Bucs rookie quarterback Jalon Daniels was sacked on fourth down to end the contest.

The Steelers move to 4-2 on the season and are back to a three-way tie atop the AFC North. They fly to Paris this week to take on the New Orleans Saints at the Stade de France.
