Egyptian football administrator Khaled Nassar has been appointed head of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Competitions Department.
Nassar succeeds Nigeria’s Samson Adamu, who was appointed acting General Secretary of CAF following the resignation of Véron Mosengo-Omba of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Adamu previously headed the Competitions Department, where he played an important role in organising and coordinating major football competitions across Africa.
His appointment as acting General Secretary created a vacancy in the department, leading to Nassar’s selection for the position.
In his new role, Nassar will oversee CAF’s competition-related activities, including the coordination and organisation of tournaments under the continental football governing body.
His appointment comes as CAF continues preparations for its upcoming competitions across Africa.
