Endrick has spoken out about his future at Real Madrid after scoring his first goal of the season this week, with the Brazilian international strongly linked with a move away in January.
Having only played four minutes of football this season, prior to the Champions League match against Roma on Wednesday, Endrick came off the bench to help Real Madrid secure a late comeback 4-3 win after being 3-1 down with seven minutes to go.
Scoring the goal to make the game 3-3, Endrick repaid the faith of manager Jose Mourinho, who convinced him to reject moves away during the summer and insisted this week that any team that wanted to sign the 20-year-old in January would have to ‘fight him’.
“I take it day by day. If I have to leave in January, I’ll leave; if I have to stay, I’ll stay. I will do whatever God puts in my heart,” Endrick said.
“Of course, I’m very grateful to Mourinho, who is genuinely one of the first coaches who has always talked to me and someone I’ve really trusted wholeheartedly. So, as long as I’m here, I’m not going to work for the coach to succeed, but for Real Madrid.
“However, since he’s doing all of this for me, I’m going to fight for him and for Real, which is what matters most. Real Madrid comes before all of us, so we have to fight for Real. Regardless of anything else, we have to fight for Real and make Real Madrid win.”
Endrick repaying Mourinho faith with rare outing for Real Madrid
Endrick has had a difficult time in Madrid since his €47.5 million move from Palmeiras in 2024, with just one goal in 24 La Liga appearances.
Having found some experience on loan at Lyon last season, Endrick was expected to be loaned out again during the summer, particularly with the arrivals of Carlos Espi and Yan Diomande, which would significantly impact his minutes.
However, Mourinho was keen to keep Endrick at the club and has reiterated his faith in the youngster, particularly amid links to the likes of Liverpool, Aston Villa and Milan in recent weeks.
When asked about the chances of Endrick leaving in January, Mourinho said: “No, no, forget it. If any interested clubs are waiting for him, they better sit down, because they will get exhausted waiting standing up.
“Endrick is a player I absolutely adore, a player I believe has huge potential and who is very important to us. Anyone interested in him will have to fight me hard, because I believe he does not need to go out on loan and that he’ll have massive success here.”
