CAF insiders have dismissed claims that confidence in Confederation of African Football (CAF) President Patrice Motsepe is declining amid reports of growing dissatisfaction among African football officials.
According to BSNSports.com.ng, the denial follows a report by The Guardian which claimed that some football officials in Africa are becoming unhappy with Motsepe’s leadership.
The report also mentioned former Cameroon international Samuel Eto’o and other influential figures as possible contenders to succeed Motsepe as CAF president.
Motsepe became CAF president in March 2021. He has confirmed that he will not seek a third term when his current tenure ends in 2029.
Despite reports of dissatisfaction, CAF insiders insist that there has been no major decline in confidence in Motsepe’s leadership of African football.
The question of who will succeed Motsepe is expected to attract more attention as the end of his tenure approaches, with several figures potentially interested in the position.
However, CAF insiders have rejected claims that Motsepe has lost the confidence of key stakeholders in African football.
