Nairobi Sets Africa’s Business Agenda as YORA Summit 2026 Opens on a High Note

The Year of Return Africa (YORA) Summit & Expo 2026 opened on an inspiring note at Broadwalk Mall, Westlands, Nairobi, on Tuesday, October 13, with an ambitious programme focused on investment, entrepreneurship, innovation and strategic partnerships aimed at accelerating Africa’s economic transformation.

The opening day, themed “Why Africa?”, placed the continent’s enormous business potential at the centre of discussions, bringing together an agenda featuring investors, entrepreneurs, policymakers, technology experts and industry leaders committed to strengthening Africa’s position in the global economy.

The summit commenced with an opening ceremony and a YORA Vision Address by Sheida Mutuku, followed by a global keynote from Steven Trullinger on Africa’s potential to shape the next economic century. Discussions throughout the day explored diaspora investment, transformative justice, technology partnerships, financial opportunities, ethical leadership and industrial development.

A major highlight of the programme was the “Capital Exchange — Where Smart Money Is Moving” session, which examined how investment capital, trusted institutions and regional markets can support African enterprises. The technology discussions also explored digital innovation, international partnerships and opportunities for businesses seeking access to new markets.

Among the personalities featured in the Day One programme were Andre Benjamin Mukosha, Charity Hudini, Christine Tetty, Ezugwu Cynthia Ogechi, Emmanuel Audu-Ohwavborua, Justus Munyoki, Brian O Misiati and Allan Robinson, reflecting the summit’s diverse international business outlook.

Attention now shifts to Wednesday, October 14, with the “Build Africa” programme expected to place greater emphasis on enterprise development, the creative economy, sports business, media and entertainment. The discussions will explore how Africa can transform its abundant talent, growing audiences and creative resources into sustainable commercial opportunities.

The YORA Summit continues beyond Nairobi, with activities scheduled for Kilifi and Vipingo Ridge on October 16–17, including coastal investment engagements, the YORA Golf Invitational and the prestigious YORA Awards Gala.

With its opening programme establishing a broad agenda for investment and collaboration, YORA Summit 2026 has reinforced the importance of building African-owned enterprises, attracting strategic capital and creating partnerships capable of delivering long-term economic value across the continent.
