Richarlison scored for Tottenham’s Under-21 side in the EFL Trophy in his first appearance since being exiled from Roberto De Zerbi’s first-team squad.
The Brazilian international scored Tottenham’s equaliser against League Two side Cheltenham Town on Tuesday night.
Richarlison turned in a cross from James Rowswell to level the scores at 1-1 in the EFL Trophy group stage fixture.
The match ultimately finished 2-2 with Richarlison going on to score in the penalty shoot-out, which Cheltenham Town won 7-6.
The EFL Trophy represented a rare chance for Richarlison to secure game time after he was left out of De Zerbi’s Premier League squad, while Spurs have also been knocked out of the Carabao Cup.
‘Happy to do what I love most in life. I was missing it!’ Richarlison shared on social media following the match.

Richarlison, who posed with fans post-match, was praised by Cheltenham manager Steve Cotterill for showing an ‘immaculate attitude’ when playing in the EFL Trophy fixture
Richarlison had started Tottenham’s opening day defeat against Brentford, but De Zerbi later claimed the forward had ‘said too many times he wants to leave’.
A proposed return to Everton collapsed before the transfer deadline, while possible moves to Trabzonspor and boyhood club Vasco failed to materialise.
Richarlison, who will be without first-team football until January, was praised post-match by Cheltenham manager Steve Cotterill.
Cotterill told reporters that he felt the Brazilian’s attitude was ‘absolutely first class’ when featuring against the League Two side.
‘I thought his attitude tonight was immaculate,’ Cotterill said.
I thought he was really, really good, his attitude was great.
‘He could have easily come down here and thought I ain’t too bothered about tonight, he could have done that.
‘He’s used to playing in front of 60,000 every week, his attitude tonight was absolutely first class and it was great for our lads to play against someone of his stature.’
