Minnesota quarterback Drake Lindsey led the Golden Gophers to a rare victory over Michigan on Saturday – despite taking a painful blow from one of his teammates.
Offensive lineman Bennett Warren accidentally kicked his quarterback in the groin as he celebrated during Minnesota’s 20-14 win.
Warren, who is 6ft 7ins and 300lbs, pumped his fists and screamed into the sky before kicking out his right leg in celebration.
But the offensive lineman was unaware that Lindsey was standing just a few feet away. So Warren’s outstretched leg caught the quarterback in a painful spot.
Lindsey immediately bent over and grabbed his teammate to prevent further damage. Thankfully for the Golden Gophers, the quarterback recovered to throw the game-winning touchdown pass to Darius Taylor early in the fourth quarter.
Fans stormed the field at Huntington Bank Stadium in Minneapolis after Minnesota secured a first win over Michigan since 2014.

But Drake Lindsey still led the Golden Gophers to a rare victory over Michigan on Saturday
Lindsey threw two costly first-half interceptions but Minnesota’s defense overwhelmed Michigan quarterback Bryce Underwood.
Aydan West and Zack Harden set up scores with interceptions in the second half to help the Gophers (4-1, 2-0 Big Ten) hoist the Little Brown Jug trophy in front of their home crowd for the first time in 49 years.
The Wolverines (3-2, 0-2) had won 35 of their last 38 games in the 134-year-old series since the No 1 team in the AP poll in October 1977 lost 16-0 at Memorial Stadium.
Underwood went just 10 for 21 for 101 yards and ran 10 times for 20 yards for the Wolverines (3-2, 0-2), who have failed to reach the 20-point mark in four of their five games under new coach Kyle Whittingham.
