Philadelphia Eagles star Lane Johnson ruled out of Rams game for mysterious 'personal reasons'

The Philadelphia Eagles will be without a huge piece of their offensive line against the Rams on Sunday after veteran Lane Johnson was ruled out for ‘personal reasons’.

The offensive tackle was previously listed as questionable amid the mysterious circumstances, and he was scratched completely just two hours before the 1pm ET game.

No specifics have yet been shared over the 36-year-old’s omission, but he had previously taken a separate four-day excused absence during training camp.

When he returned in August, he opened up about the break and admitted the 2026 season is ‘probably’ going to be his last.

‘As you get older, as things change in your life, your children get older, parents get older, just puts things into perspective,’ he told reporters.

‘It’s looking like this will be potentially, probably my last year. Just because I am getting to that point. Those priorities away from football are starting to merge.

‘Not that I don’t enjoy it. I love this game…. But that’s where I’m at in my career.’

Johnson also shared that his mother had been dealing with health issues and he spoke about his children, admitting it is ‘hard to get time back’ with them.

With Johnson out, Philadelphia is likely to turn to third-round rookie Markel Bell to start at right tackle against the Rams.

The Eagles head into Week 4 at 2-1 for the season, having sealed narrow early wins over the Commanders and Titans, before a brutal Monday Night Football loss to the Bears in Chicago.

The Rams are by no means in top form themselves though, losing two of their first three games, including a humbling opener against the 49ers in Australia.
