Former Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong has called for more consistency from Nigeria’s national team after their disappointing 3-0 defeat to Guinea-Bissau in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Troost-Ekong made the comments during an interview with beIN Sports. He said changes and improvements are needed across the national team.
“We are at a point where we need to see some consistency and think from the top down. I think the talent is there in abundance,” Troost-Ekong said.
His comments came after Nigeria suffered a heavy defeat in Bissau, raising more questions about the team’s performances under head coach Eric Chelle.
Despite the loss, Troost-Ekong believes Nigeria has enough talented players to compete at the highest level.
He said the team needs a more consistent approach as it continues its qualifying campaign.
The Super Eagles will now hope to recover in their remaining AFCON 2027 qualifying matches and improve their chances of reaching the tournament.
