Elijah Saturday and Sesan Adedeji produced important contributions with the bat as Nigeria A secured a five-wicket victory over Sierra Leone in Match 9 of the Nigeria T20 Quadrangular Series.
Saturday led Nigeria A’s chase with an attacking 39 off 21 balls, while Adedeji added 25 from 18 deliveries to help the home side complete the run chase and claim another important result in the competition.
Saturday’s innings provided the early momentum Nigeria A needed, with his aggressive approach putting pressure on the Sierra Leone bowling attack.
Adedeji then played a valuable supporting role, contributing another brisk innings as Nigeria A maintained control of the chase.
The pair’s performances proved decisive as Nigeria A successfully negotiated Sierra Leone’s total to secure victory by five wickets.
The result further strengthens Nigeria A’s campaign in the four-team competition, which is being played at the
Tafawa Balewa Square Cricket Oval in Lagos.
Nigeria A had already made a strong start to the tournament, defeating Sierra Leone by 33 runs in the opening match on September 21. In that encounter, Nigeria A posted 113 for eight before bowling Sierra Leone out for 80 in 19.5 overs.
The latest victory gives the Nigerian side another positive result against Sierra Leone and keeps them firmly involved in the race for the top positions as the quadrangular series progresses.
Saturday’s innings is also another indication of the attacking batting options available to Nigeria A, while Adedeji’s contribution provided the stability needed to complement the opener’s aggressive approach.
With more matches still to come, Nigeria A will be looking to maintain its momentum and finish the competition strongly as the teams continue their battle at the TBS Cricket Oval.
