Dave Portnoy is accusing Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams of spreading false information about him after the Barstool Sports founder mocked the NFL star over his injury.
On a Monday episode of ‘Wake Up Barstool,’ Portnoy referred to Williams as a ‘thespian’ – seemingly accusing him of exaggerating the severity of his hamstring injury.
‘The man tweaked his hammy and acted like both ACLs, MCLs, everything else [were torn],’ Portnoy said, ‘He tweaked his hammy. What are we doing here?’
Portnoy added that Williams’ reaction was a ‘little bit much’ and added that he had ‘a bigger issue with my tooth than he had.’
Later in the day, Williams then re-tweeted a fan’s comment criticizing Portnoy that said, ‘The guy [Portnoy] that had a kid arrested and expelled from school for throwing pennies at him is calling someone else soft LMFAOOOOOO.’
The tweet was in reference to an attack against Portnoy in Starkville, Mississippi in November of 2025 when a man threw coins and uttered antisemitic remarks while the Barstool president was doing a pizza review near the campus of Mississippi State University.

Williams re-tweeted a fan’s inaccurate claim that Portnoy got a college student expelled

The reaction came after Portnoy mocked Williams after the quarterback suffered an injury
The man was arrested and identified at Patrick McClintock. He was charged with misdemeanor disturbing the peace and later voluntarily withdrew from Mississippi State.
Portnoy was alerted to Williams’ re-tweet and called the quarterback out on social media – posting a screenshot of the Bears star’s action.
‘I woke up to Bears Qb @CALEBcsw spreading disinformation about me. I didn’t get anybody arrested or kicked outta school,’ Portnoy posted.
‘That moron threw s*** at me on camera in the middle of a pizza review and it went viral. Play stupid games win stupid prizes.
‘Regardless I will not hold this against Caleb. He’s an emotional guy and in his feelings after tweaking his hammy. I am rooting for him and all of Chicago. I can’t wait to see 18 back on the field this week after that season ending injury. When they go low I go high! Go Bears! ‘
Williams was carted off the field during Sunday’s game against the Minnesota Vikings. After initial fears of a serious injury bubbled up, it was later revealed that Williams only strained his hamstring.
The Bears have yet to confirm Williams’ status for their upcoming game on Monday Night Football against the Philadelphia Eagles, but Bears coach Ben Johnson said the quarterback would ‘likely miss time.’
