The Los Angeles Chargers are 0-2 for the first time in three seasons. Some fans believe that one person is responsible, even though they don’t touch the field.
In their second game of the season, the Chargers once again hosted a team that was projected to miss the playoffs and struggle throughout the campaign. Once again, they failed to capitalize and lost.
Sunday’s matchup was against a division rival in the Las Vegas Raiders, the worst team in football last season. In a case of deja vu, the Chargers somehow lost 26-14 to the Raiders – the exact same score they put up in their Week 1 loss to the Arizona Cardinals.
Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert was appalling for the Bolts, completing 15 passes for 192 yards, one touchdown and a game-breaking two interceptions.
While Herbert has struggled to separate himself as a truly elite quarterback in recent years, some fans are pointing blame at the gunslinger’s fiancé: pop star Madison Beer.
Herbert and Beer drew headlines this year after they got engaged, with the pop star showing up to training camp and packing on the PDA with the quarterback over the summer.

Enraged Chargers fans began to point fingers at Beer, blaming her for somehow distracting Herbert.
‘I truly blame Madison Beer for this loss,’ read a post on X from a Chargers fan account. ‘Ever since Herbert proposed, I knew he wasn’t going to be locked in.’
Another user said, ‘Justin Herbert f***ing blows. He needs to break up with Madison Beer and lock in.’
‘Herbert’s had to learn numerous different playbooks since Oregon. This offseason he was tasked with probably the most complex offense of his career and he spent it with Madison Beer instead. Trade him to another franchise so he can turn into prime Drew Brees and let us rebuild,’ read another angry post.
One post read, ‘Justin Herbert went from an All-Pro QB to one of the worst QBs in the league in one off-season. Madison Beer & [Chargers offensive coordinator] Mike McDaniel, what have you guys done man.’
The Chargers had a long-shot hope of coming back to win the game with the ball in their hands just before the two-minute warning and down 24-14. But Herbert forced an underthrown ball into triple coverage, which was intercepted to effectively ice the game.
It’s yet another disappointing result for a Chargers team that was projected by some to win the AFC West.
Things don’t get better any time soon for the Chargers. They’re on the road next week to take on the red-hot Buffalo Bills.
