The result carried extra significance for Iganmu. Before Sunday’s encounter at Bariga Stadium, the Tigers had lost all 12 of their previous TCC League meetings against Beyond Limits, making their spirited display against the champions an important measure of progress.
Iganmu had to show character after falling behind in the 16th minute, but responded with two goals before half-time and another shortly after the restart.
Beyond Limits eventually fought back to make it 3-3, but Olajide’s contribution across the contest earned him the Matchday 2 individual recognition.
“We knew the history against Beyond Limits, but we refused to back down. We wanted to show that Iganmu can compete with the best teams in this league. Getting the Man of the Match award means a lot, but what matters to me is seeing the team continue to improve.”
The 2026/27 campaign is already providing Olajide with an opportunity to establish himself. Official TCC records list the No.40 as a forward, with appearances in both of Iganmu’s opening league matches.
The Tigers have certainly started differently this time around. They opened the season with an impressive 4-2 victory over Dannaz FC, their first TCC League win in 18 months, before going toe-to-toe with the defending champions on Matchday 2.
For Olajide, the MOTM honour provides another chance to build his name on a platform designed to give emerging Nigerian footballers competitive exposure.
And after helping Iganmu finally halt a 12-game losing sequence against Beyond Limits,
Adeleke Olajide has given TCC followers another name to remember as the new season gathers momentum.
