Ekiti-born teenage tennis sensation Goodnews Aina has made history in Accra, Ghana, winning both the Girls’ Singles and Girls’ Doubles titles at the J30 Accra – Tennis Foundation Ghana Open.
Sports247 reports that Aina secured her maiden Junior World Tennis title after home favourite Gwendolyn Duvor Klu retired during the second set of their Girls’ Singles final.
The Nigerian youngster had taken the opening set 7–5 and was leading 15–0 in the second when Klu was forced to retire, bringing the singles final to an early conclusion.
The victory marked a significant milestone in Aina’s burgeoning junior career, as she claimed her first-ever Junior World Tennis title on the international stage.
Her triumph was further enhanced by her success in the Girls’ Doubles event. Klu was unable to compete in the doubles final following her retirement in the singles encounter, effectively handing Aina and her partner the opportunity to claim the doubles crown.
