Nigerian-born youngster, Abdulsabur Oluwatosin Olubukola Alao Oladipupo Abdulmalik (Abdul Abdulmalik) has found himself gaining a massive increase in followship on social media, following his ‘most expensive transfer’ from a non-league English club to a team in Sweden.
Sports247 reports that Abdulmalik shot into major headlines last month when he sealed a transfer from Boreham Wood of England to Djurgårdens IF of Sweden in a three-year contract for a fee of £1.5m, which set a new National League record.
His fee surpassed a £1m transfer of Jamie Vardy from Fleetwood Town to Leicester City in 2012, with reports further indicating that Abdulmalik’s deal could even rise further through add-ons, while Boreham Wood also stand to earn more, having secured a sell-on clause in the transfer..
Abulmalik settled down fast to create an impact at the Allsvenskan club, as the England youth international, who came through the kiddies’ academy at Millwall and progressed through age groups up to under-21 level, made an instant impact on his debut in Sweden.
He got off the bench for his new club against Haninge on Thursday night, following which the 23-year-old attacker showed impressive pace, neat passing and immense team work, which helped his side romp to a stunning 7-1 win in their Svenska Cupen tie against their fourth-tier opponets.
A report by UK’s Express publication revealed that Abdulmalik’s mouth-gaping performance caught the eye of his club’s supporters and many of them took to social media to point out how impressed they were with the Nigeria-born lad’s display on his debut.
One of the suppporters wrote: “Mad how no British team took a punt on him because from the clips flying around he looks class;” while another stated: “No wonder they pushed for him, looks a cracking player.”
A third fan added: “Such a sharp footballer. Just looks a different level, I know it’s against weaker opposition but I am so intrigued to see how he gets on;” following which one other revealed: “He came on for the last 30 minutes and was excellent.”
A fifth predicted: “He won’t be in Sweden for long,” while another hopes: “Absolutely no affiliation to him but bloody hope he smashes it;” with more reactions flowing from all across the Scandinavian nation in honour of the brand new arrival at Djurgårdens.
