Nigeria’s junior men’s handball team has secured qualification for the 2027 International Handball Federation (IHF) Men’s U-21 World Championship in North Macedonia.
The National Sports Commission (NSC) confirmed the qualification in a statement on their X handle.
The qualification was secured after the Nigerian team defeated Guinea 28-23 in their quarter-final at the 33rd Africa Men’s Junior Handball Championship in Abidjan.
The victory also sends the Coach David Emmanuel-tutored side into the semi-finals, where they will face Tunisia, who defeated DR Congo 36-20.

The qualification marks Nigeria’s fourth appearance at the IHF Men’s Junior World Championship, following previous qualifications in 1981, 1985 and 2019.
With their first major objective achieved, the team now turns its attention to Tunisia and the pursuit of the African title.
